3g STEM Drill
A new generation STEM (Shaped Tube Electro-chemical Machining) system that overcomes
the negative aspects of the process. This system is a single unit machining centre
enclosing the process and the acid systems in a single unit; and incorporating many
new features.
The machine is a twin work-station system. This allows one work -station to be loaded
whilst the other is machining, improving machine efficiency by approximately 60%.
This feature is especially useful when machining Turbine blades that have a “Tip”
operation and a “Root” operation.
The system uses absolute encoders on the Z axis and therefore eliminates the need
to reference on power- up which would usually necessitates resetting the STEM tubes
in their guides. The control system has advanced process monitoring and graphing
capabilities, and the machine is entirely constructed from stainless steel.
